What I've been dreaming of...

I love to garden, and this is hard as a renter. I live in the country, so I can have a garden and such, but it really isn't mine. Well I have started to change my attitude. I will be living here for probably another year, so I am trying to make my surroundings more enjoyable. Lately I have been redoing flower beds and and making a sitting area. I want to spend a lot of time outside this summer, and I want to enjoy what I'm looking at.
Today I was dreaming of a beautiful yard and new projects for me to conquer. I went to Better Home and Garden to look at all the beautiful pictures. This week is supposed to be beautiful so I know I will be working on the yard. Here are a few pics for you to enjoy!

New Blog

I have decided to make this blog private and open a new blog. I heard a horror story from a friend and I don't want to have information about my family public. If you want to still access my blog just send me an email.
So this new blog will just be about me. I still want to be able to have people find me, but I wont have any personal information. The new blog is here. I decided to call it Practical Burnett. Well let me know if you want to access my old blog. I'm going private in about a month!

Gas Info

I got this Email from a friend. It has some great info about gas. I was really impressed, so I thought I would let ya'll know...

  • Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service station shave their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

  • When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3)stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, there by minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

  • One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.

  • Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up; most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

  • WHERE TO BUY USA GAS, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW. READ ON:Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it. It might even be good for us! The Saudis are boycotting American goods. We should return the favor. An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis. Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends. I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil.

  • Companies that import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell........................... 205,742,000 barrels

Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels

Exxon /Mobil................ 130,082,000 barrels

Marathon/Speedway.. 117,740,000 barrels

Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels

Citgo gas is from South America , from a Dictator who hates Americans. If you do the math at $30/barrel, these exports amount to over $18BILLION!(Oil is now $90 - $100 a barrel. Don't buy from CITGO).

  • Companies that DO NOT import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco.................0 barrels

Conoco.. ...............0 barrels

Sinclair.................0 barrels

B P/Phillips............0 barrels

Hess.......................0 barrels

ARC0....................0 barrels

If you go to [ http://sunoco.com/ <http://sunoco.com/> ]Sunoco.com <http://sunoco.com/> , you will get a list of the station locations near you. All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

Pretty interesting. Maybe this will help with the cost of gas for all ya'll. I know I'm going to try out the ideas. Every little bit helps. I know I will be gassing up at Sinclair from now on.

School's Out!!

Well I just finished my semester at school and now I just have to finish my student teaching. I should have my degree before Thanksgiving!! I have just been enjoying myself and my family. It is so nice to not have homework in the back of my mind. I'm so stoked to be finished. Now I just have to find an awesome babysitter. Poor little Dayne. I miss him every second I am away. They say it gets easier...I beg to differ. Here is a little pic of the sweet thing. Top Raman happens to be his favorite thing to eat.

This week Nick is at Scout Camp. He is taking a 50 mile hike over a course of five days. Today was his first day. Luckily he is one of the few that gets a signal on his cell phone and we have been able to talk over the phone a few times. He walked 12 miles today. He said he is sooooo sore. I hope he will be able to walk tomorrow. They are planned to walk about 10 every day. He will be back Saturday. In the meantime it is just Dayne and mommy time.

Sha'Nel got married Saturday and here is a pick of the car. We blew up balloons and put money inside them. This was our wedding present. Nick came up with the idea. He is such a genius.

10 Years Ago:
I was just a teenager in Middle School. I made some life changing decisions and decided which friends I could "Hang Out" with on the weekends. My best friend was Heather Posey, and we loved to have sleepovers. I was interested in boys, but way too scared to talk to one.

5 Places I have visited:
New York
Washington DC
Victoria Canada
Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico
Mt. Rushmore
(4 of these places were all within the same month!)

5 Things on my to-do list:
Get into Lit 3 class
Cut Nick's Hair
Fold Laundry
Put up summer decorations
Cook dinner

Lifetime Goals
Go to Germany
Finish my degree and find a job I love
Learn how to surf
Build a house
Learn how to really play the piano

3 Bad Habits

Nail biting
Not folding laundry
Not calling my family members enough

5 Things you may not know about me:

When I was 13 I went on a month long Road Trip with my family. I was in a van with five people! The first week was really long, and then it started to go by so fast. My favorite place was fishing at Lake Ingwadana in Minnesota.

When I was in High School I learned to make pottery. I took a class at BYU-I and I learned to make some pretty decent stuff. I want to have a studio to make pottery and teach my family the craft.

I haven't been liking cooked ground beef lately. I like Hamburgers just fine, but for some reason ground beef has been tasting old or something.

When I was a freshman I had 80 people in my High School class. When we were seniors 30 people left and we ended up with 50 people graduating... pretty sad huh.

I have a mini herb garden in my bedroom window. I wonder if it will ever be grown enough to harvest?
