Recipes

A few weeks ago I made french bread pizza at Young Women's. It is a really easy, fabulous recipe, and SOOOO much better than at the store. I also made chocolate strawberry cheesecake for Valentines day. It makes a huge cake and it tastes just like The Cheesecake Factory's. Well I hope you all enjoy!

Fabulous French Bread

1 1/2 cups water
1 TBS sugar
1 tsp salt
3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp bread machine yeast

If you have a bread machine put the ingredients in order into the mixing bowl. Put on dough cycle. If you don't have a bread machine mix yeast sugar and water together until yeast dissolves (5-10 min). Then mix in flour and salt. Knead about 10 minutes or until elastic. Let raise 45 minutes. When dough is ready punch down and make into long loaves on greased cookie sheets. Cut diagonals on top and let raise in warm place 45 minutes. Bake at 400 F for 18-25 minutes. Drizzle olive oil on top for a golden brown loaf.

Basic Cheesecake

Preheat oven to 475 F

Crust
1 1/2 cup crushed gram crackers
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp cinnamon

Line springform pan with parchment paper. Mix together above ingredients and press into pan. Put into freezer while making the filling.

Filling
4 packages cream cheese (8oz)
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tsp Vanilla

Mix until creamy. Add:

5 eggs

Don't over mix. Mix until eggs are evenly distributed and no more. Pour on top of crust in the spring form pan. Bake for 12 minutes and then turn the oven down to 350F. Bake an additional 50-60 minutes. This is best if made the day before and cooled in the refrigerator. Top with your favorite cheesecake toppings.

Baby Tag

1.Where were you when you first found out that you were pregnant?

At home. I did a pee test in the morning.

2.Who was with you? Nick

3.What was your first reaction to finding out you were pregnant? Shocked because we didn't plan for it.

4.Who was the first person you told? Nick

5.Did you tell everyone else right away? No we found out in October, and told everyone at Christmas, though a few found out!

6.Was everybody happy for you? Oh ya. My family was so excited. I'm the youngest of 7 so I have a lot of nieces and nephews, but everyone was crying and ecstatic.

7.Did you go out and celebrate? No. Proabably should have though.

8. Did you want to find out the sex? Yes I was sure it was a girl for the first six months, but I guess Dayne got tired of being called a she.

9.Did anyone throw you a baby shower? My mom-in-law and sista-in-law

10.Did you get any outfits at the baby shower that you just knew that you wouldn't put on your baby? Well some of it was summer clothes, but by the time Dayne got big enough to wear them it was November.

11.How much weight did you gain? Too much. A whopping 40 LBS.

12.Did you lose all of the weight that you gained? Five pounds to go, but of course I'd like to lose more.

13. Did you get any stretch marks? All over the bottom of my stomach

14.What did you crave the most? Peaches

15.Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? Ya. I had to have a C-section because Dayne wasn't coming through my pelvis.

16.Where and when did you go into labor? I was induced at EIRMC, with pit, then they broke my water, and still did do a thing for me. I only made it to 3 cm.

17.Did your water break? they broke it... and i didn't like it!

18.Who drove you to the hospital? Nick

19.Who was in the room when you gave birth? Dr. Leavitt, the anesthesiologist, and about five other people with Nick. It was really uncomfortable.

20.Did you go early or late? I was a week late.

21. How long were in labor for? 8 hours before the C-section

22.What was your first reaction after giving birth? I was numb from the color bone down, so I was a little loopy, but I was so in love when I met Dayne for the first time.

23.How big was the baby? 8 lbs 2 ounces. 21 1/2 inches

24.Did your husband cry? Well Nick and baby were shoved off while they finished me up, so I guess I was robbed of seeing Nick's reaction.

25.What did you name the baby? Dayne Roger Havens

26.Does his name have any significant meaning? Roger is Grandpa and the Havens are Danish

27.Did the baby have any complications? Despite everything Dayne scored a 9 out of 10 on the baby test thing, so he did great!

28.How old is your baby today? 18 months, 10 days, 12 hours, and 41 minutes.

29.When is the next one coming? Not sure. They will probably be a surprise like Dayne.

I actually took out a few questions, but it is still a big one. It was a lot of fun to remember all the things that happened. I tag whoever wants to do this!

Sew fun!

More sewing fun! I just finished two more projects. Both are wraps, which I love because I can adjust to my perfect size. I took the pattern from an old shirt. My sister was so great to take these pics for me. I know it is pathedic, but I named them. The first one is named after my sister Sarah. And the next is Diane. Well I'm not sure what to sew next, but I'm definetly having my sister be the photographer. She was just invited to be in an international picture exchange. She will be taking pictures of our community and exchanging to people in Africa, China, and more. She is so amazing. Love ya Sarah! I hope everyone enjoys the pics and is inspired to DIY sew!

GREEN Drink

So I went home for the weekend, and my family has this fantastic blender called Vitamix. It will puree anything from whole oranges to screws and bolts. IT IS AMAZING! Well it costs about $600, so I probably wont be buying one anytime soon. While I was home we made tonz of different combinations of smoothies. We actually added spinach to some and I couldn't even taste it. I know you are thinking this sounds pretty sick, but even Dayne loves it. I make a virgin lime margarita, and it is a great combination. I use my regular blender, and it is still satisfying. Today I added a banana and it turned out pretty tasty. I can't think of a better way of getting my fruits and veggies in just one gulp. Well here's a few pics and the recipe if your interested.

GREEN Drink!
1/2 cup apple juice
1/2 lime chopped
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
6-7 ice cubes
1 banana
3/4 cup spinach

Puree the apple juice with the lime and banana. Add the yogurt and spinach. Add the ice cubes and mix until smooth. Add a salt rim around the glass if you desire a more margarita taste. Makes 2 cups

This is him crying because he wants more.
gulp...gulp...gulp
Ahhhhh!

All gone and very satisfied!

MY Shirt

Okay so I finally finished my shirt from the Burda Website. Once I got started it only took me a few hours. I really like the black ruffled shirts so I gave it a go. I had a hard time making sure everything matched up, but it all worked out. If anyone is interested in making one I can give you some pointers. I'm going to make a shirtdress soon with this same pattern, but maybe without the ruffles. I already have the polka dot fabric, I just have to make it. Well here it is:
